People's Square
People's Square is located in Huangpu District. It is originally called Racecourse for it was the horse racing site of the upper class. But now it is the economic, political, cultural center, transportation hub and tourism center. And it is also the most important landmark of Shanghai. On the north side of People's Square, it is Shanghai municipal government, the northwest side Shanghai Great Theatre, northeast side Shanghai city planning Exhibition Hall and the south side Shanghai Museum. Shanghai is the only city who has two civil international airports in Chinese mainland. Shanghai Railway Station, simply known as Shanghai Station or New Station, is the station who has the largest number of passengers. As Shanghai is one of the transport hubs in China, trains start from here head for the whole country, including EMU sleeper to Beijing, Direct Express to Tianjin and Direct Express to Hong Kong. Different from other domestic stations, Shanghai Station has boarder inspection and customs because there are cross-boarder trains to Jiulong in Hong Kong.
Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station
Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is located on the west side of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, and it is now the largest railway station in China. Hongqiao Railway Station is mainly in charged of the passenger's transport of the high speed railway.
