General Introduction of Yichang
Yichang is located in the southwest part of Hubei Province, on the north bank of Yangtze River, the eastern exit of Three Gorge Dam. It was called Throat of Sichuan and Hubei Province, Portal of Southwest China since the ancient time. It has an quite important traffic and military position.

Yichang has rich natural resources. It has the richest water energy resources in the world. The Yangtze River flows through the city of 237 km. Qingjiang River flows through the city of 153 km. Besides, there are 99 rivers of over 10 km long each. The total length of the rivers in Yichang is 3793 km and the river density is about 0.18 km per square kilometers. The water reserves are over 30,000,000 KW in which 25,000,000 KW can be put into development and utilization. Yichang is one of the areas with the most water energy resources in China. It has also rich mineral resources.

Yichang Sanxia (Three Gorges) Airport is an important supporting item of the Three Gorges Project, located in Xiaoting District of Yichang City, 26 km from the city center, 55 km from Three Gorges Dam. Yichang Sanxia Airport began to be built in September 1994 and was finished in October 1996. It was put into use in December 1996.
