General Introduction of Wuxi
Wuxi is located in south Jiangsu Province, hinterland of Yangtze Delta plain. It is the transportation hub of Taihu Lake basin with Yangtze River in the north, Taihu in the south, Suzhou in the east and Changzhou in the west. Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal passes through the city. Wuxi has been one of the four rice towns and town of rice and fish in China from the ancient times. It is also a modern industrial city and the birthplace of our national industry, once called little Shanghai and Cloth wharf.
Located in north subtropical moist district, Wuxi has a subtropical monsoon climate with distinctive four seasons, mild climate, enough rainfall and enough sunshine. The average temperature in January is 2.8¡æ and it is 29¡æ in July.
Wuxi has beautiful sceneries. It was once awarded China's excellent tourism city, national forest city, national garden city. The best time traveling in Wuxi is from April to October. Taihu Square is the real city square of Wuxi and the proud of Wuxi people. Taihu Square covers an area of 670,000 square meters. It is divided into the south square and north square by Taihu Avenue. They are connected by the sinking underground pedestrian landscape channel, of which the round square in the middle is the center of the square. The Great Hall and City People's Congress is on the north of the square. Taihu Square is located in the geometry center of Wuxi City and it has natural advantages of business value. Shuofang International Airport is located in Wuxi City of Jiangsu Province, 12 km to the city center, 2 km to Wuxi high-tech area, 10 km to Suzhou high-tech area, 22 km to Suzhou Ancient city area and 29 km to China-Singapore Suzhou Industry Park. It was first built in 1955 and officially opened the civilian flights in 2004.
